I happen to meet

Hot days are still lasting around here. But tsukutsukuboshi-cicadas  start chirping instead of large brown cicadas were chirping in high summer.

I went to find flowers blooming now at a botanical garden in Nara .
Passion flowers were blooming there. I've never seen them . According to wikipedia, missionaries of Society of Jesus believed that this is "the flower on the cross". As a ovary of the flower is a cross, pistil divided into three on the top is nails, five petals and calyxes are ten apostles.
But we Japanese compare it to a clock. The construction of the flower make us imagine  a dial of a clock. We call it "Tokei-So"( Tokei means clock and So means plant.)  A passion fruit is a fruit of a passion flower.

                                                                Passion flower

                                                        What time is it now?

These flowers were blooming in the botanical garden. But I don't know those names. Sorry!

A kind of herb

                                                      A flower, kind of gourd

                                                          Vivid dahlia

I stopped at beach "Nishiki-no-hama" on my way to the airport. The freeway to the airport was running along  the beach.  Once it's a large white sand beach and many beautiful pinewood spread around there. When I was a child I have swum there. But Kansai International Airport was built off the shore and a freeway to approach  to Osaka city( the second big city in Japan),too. So visitors are bathing, watching the  arrival and departure of planes.
Some groups of student  were enjoying the end of their summer holiday, having a barbecue, playing volleyball or bathing etc.

A plane is going to touch down at the Kansai International Airport where was built in the man-made island  off the beach in the Osaka bay.

We watch the shining roof of the airport over shimmering sea and a bridge between the island and the mainland. Also planes are staying on the ground of the airport over the bridge. Can you see some planes with red tail?

I walked around paddy fields, thinking how much have rice grown now. White rice flowers were blooming early in the morning. So the field will change from green to gold in Autumn. I like new rice so much.

Ears of rice appear and small white flowers bloom for brief. They were shining in the morning sun.

My camera caught white thing in a grain( the second grain from the top). This is already rice,I wonder? or.....

This post is linked our world.

I like Tokeiso which I've thought quiet flowers. Through your zooming up photos it looks different.
I bought new harvest rice yesterday, and tasted it feeling autumn has come.

The header is marvelous. I feel I can see how the rest of petals are to be unfolding to the full like in a slow motion image. There's a sense of pulse in that.

I've seen tokeiso and thought it was a good naming but to read the explanation of "passion flower" made it really look like that.

The pale purple blue herb is salvia farinacea(サルビア ファリナセア) or blue salvia. I grow them in my garden.
Have a nice weekend, sarah.

I think the passion flower looks like a clock too! It's so pretty. I love your photography. The ocean looks wonderful and yes, I can see the airplanes with a bit of red.

I've never seen rice growing, how fascinating!

To Arti,
Indica rice differ from Japanese rice, doesn't it? I like curry with Indica rice.

To Beyond Zephyr,
A Passion flower is smaller than you think, maybe.

To Tania,
I didn't know Norwegian eat lots of rice. Of course they are imported, aren't they? I'm happy to hear the kids like rice.

To Haricot,
There are some kind of tokeiso. One of them may looks quiet. They were smaller than you think.

To Cosmos,
I also thought about dahlia as you felt. So I put it on the header.
Thank you for teaching "salvia farinacea".

To Francisca,
That freeway is running almost on the beach and has a wall. So we can't see the beach from the freeway a bit regrettably.

To Mickie,
I like macro because I can see something rare that I can't see it usually.

To Stardust,
It's already rice? I checked the way of growth of rice on a
Internet.But I can't find about that. But It's fun.

To Ruby,
The taste of new harvest rice differ from old rice. It's sweeter as fresh vegetables are sweeter. And juicy and soft. I like it.

To Martha Z,
I didn't know they grow rice in California. I like to take photo macro. Because I can see something rare that I can't see usually.

To Snowwhite,
I usually don't care about rice field. But when we watch things well, we can find something, can't we?

To Gypsy LaLa,
The white flower is very small, about 3 centimeters in diameter.

To Sallie,
Thank you for praise. But I am a poor english learner. So if you find mistakes in my english, please teach me.

To Wendy,
I didn't care about growth of rice till now. But when we set a camera we seem to start watching something well.

To Sandy Carlson,
Yes,they are really religious people.
